Submission Guidelines
Student Traveler is committed to quality writing about all aspects of travel for students. The mission of our magazine is to motivate young people to see the world. We reach out to those that thought they could never travel, and offer the tools and resources to get them to see the world.
That's no small task, so our writers must be passionate about their travels and honest about what it's like to be on the road.
We suggest you write a query letter (http://people.howstuffworks.com/magazine-writing4.htm) before you write a piece for us. That way, we can let you know quickly if it fits our magazine and whether to proceed. Below are details on sections of our magazine.
- August: Student Guide Annual Directory
- September/October: Study Abroad
- November/December/January: Working and Volunteering Abroad
- February/March:Travel to Europe
- April/May/June: Teaching Abroad
We are also always looking for high quality travel photography. Email us scanned images, refer us to your web portfolio, or send us prints (always include a S.A.S.E.) We'd love to see your best travel photographs or other artwork.
Send all editorial inquiries, including photography, to: eric@studenttraveler.com
We prefer email, but if you must use snail mail (i.e., you're sending a great reportage from the hinterlands of Zanzibar), our address is:

Payment
As a young magazine, created by and for students, we do not have the funds to pay you the millions your work surely deserves. We do pay 10-cents per word for articles, and photo prices vary depending on the size of the photo. Though this is not a lot, we work hard to develop a relationship with our contributors so that as the magazine grows (which it is doing at leaps and bounds), you grow with us.
Looking forward to your submissions,
The Editors
